Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Balanced Audio Technology BAT VK-D5SE
Turntable/Phono Stage: Stanton STR8-80 (need to upgrade)

No phono stage yet

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Nothing special
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): next on the list
Tweaks: Mye Audio speaker stands for the MG 20.1's
Room Size (LxWxH): 18 feet x 18 feet x 10 feet
Room Comments/Treatments: "A" - frame ceiling. 10 feet at center. 6 feet on one side, 4 feet on the other.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Acoustic guitar - Tony Rice, Norman Blake

Acoustic jazz - Bella Fleck and the Flecktones.

Light Jazz Vocal - Diana Krall.

Some instrumental bluegrass.

Classical: Mozart piano concertos, sonatas, and opera. Beethoven.

System Goals/Comments: Wide, deep sound stage with excellent imaging. Best possible reproduction of acoustiic strings, piano.
System Strengths: All the above. The combination of a front end using tubes in both the CD player and preamp feeding very clean and powerful solid state amps, operating in Class A up to 125 watts in a bi-amped configuration, gives remarkable results.
System Weaknesses: BIG speakers. Amps come with a complimentary hernia. No need to heat room with amps running. WAF of "zero" hence need for a seperate and private room. (works for me!) Need to add vinyl.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: 50" Pioneer Plasma (503CMX)
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Dennon 2803 (used as a preprocessor only)
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): 5 Mackie 824 studio reference monitors, each individually biamped with 150 w and 100 w internal amps. (total system power of 1,250 watts)

Infinity 10" sub 150 watts

Sources (DVD/VCR): DVD, Cable HDTV
Other HT Gear: 32" standard TV for 4X3 material
Comments on HT System: The bi-amped Mackie speakers give incredible impulse response. The sound of bullets wizzing by and explosions still makes me duck ! The Normandy landing scene from "Saving Private Ryan", at reference level, is almost too real to watch/listen.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Astronomy, Ham Radio (K4EEG), play guitar and 5 string banjo. Retired.
