IP Address: 211.20.123.70 Last Update: December 09, 2012 at 20:34:58
Amplifier: Marantz AVR for video processing and center/surround duties
BAT VK-120 monos / Usher AU-8500 II Direct amp
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): BAT VK-30
Speakers: Usher Dancer Mini-2 BE
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Philips BD/DVD Unlocked
HRT Musicstreamer II
Turntable/Phono Stage: Michell Tecnodec/Tecnoarm
Dynavector 10x5, Clearaudio Aurum Beta S
Sutherland 20/20
Other Source(s): Mac Mini digital source for 16/44-24/96 Lossless
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: standard wire - yes, I know, but I think money spent on components adds more value than cable
Tweaks: Amp switcher so my kids can Xbox without burning up my tubes
Room Size (LxWxH): 18' x 13' x 9'
Room Comments/Treatments: Open on one side to dining room but have 4 feet high of record shelving in between
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Mostly rock, blues, pop, jazz, and classical.
System Goals/Comments: I am pretty comfortable with where I am on analog. I want a Gyrodec but I'm not ready/willing to pay for it. Now I would like a DAC that is versatile and musical. I'm waiting for the industry to mature and get where I want them to be before I invest significant money, although that Ayre is pretty fetching....
System Strengths: Dynavector cartridge has no sibilance and great detail
Clearaudio not as detailed but very warm and musical
Musicality via BAT absolutely incredible--I routinely get chills listening to vinyl.
Mini-2's deep, extended bass.
System Weaknesses: Digital music, and in my room the Mini-2's sound like there is a slight bass hump around 40hz, though they easily reach down to 30Hz. Mini-2's could have more resolution, but I would be paying a LOT more than I am willing to right now.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Sony SXRD 52"
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Marantz AVR
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Usher Audio Dancer Mini-2 Mains/BE616 Center/Klipsh surrounds
Sources (DVD/VCR): Philips BD/DVD multi-region (unlocked)
Other HT Gear: Outlaw 8" sub, Velodyne sub
Comments on HT System: Not enough house to split my HT/Main system
