daveed_tx's Mid-fi Maggie System
IP Address: 99.55.140.61 Last Update: February 09, 2011 at 14:20:42
Amplifier: Quad 909
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Rogue Perseus Magnum
Speakers: Magnepan MMG, REL R-305
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony BDP-S470
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Audience Conductor 'e' IC & Spkr
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Cable Pro Noisetrapper, Audience AR1P, Oyaide GX Red Wall Outlet
Tweaks: Planning a dedicated 20 amp drop from the breaker box. Planning to "Gunn" the MMGs.
Room Size (LxWxH): 25 x 15 x 9
Room Comments/Treatments: (5) 2'x4' DIY Panels with Owens Corning backing
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Smooth Jazz, Ambient/Electronica, Rock (Dave Matthews, Radiohead)
System Goals/Comments: Cambridge 840C source, DAC, Computer-based streaming, Stands & Xovers for the MMGs
System Strengths: REL integrates well. The Rogue is deep and full and revealing. The Quad pushes the Maggies just fine with quickness and some slam. The Audience cables are lovely.
System Weaknesses: Source. My old Sony ES CDP died, so I'm just using digital out of my Blu-ray into the Outlaw. Interestingly, it sounds the same as the analog out of BDP to the Rogue.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Panasonic TCP-50S1
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Outlaw 950
Other HT Gear: Logitech Harmony 400
Comments on HT System: Planning to split the system and run MMGW fronts/rears & MMGC center or possibly MC1 fronts. Probably a single REL or maybe two. All depends on budget :(
