Last Update: April 03, 2007 at 19:01:36 IP Address: 207.254.165.206
Amplifier: Odyssey Audio Extreme Monos
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Audio Research LS7. Pure tube linestage (well, it does use solid state power supply)using 4 6922's.
Speakers: Maggie 2.7 QR's. This is my third set of Maggies.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: CAL DX-1
Other Source(s): Cheap Panasonic DVD player mostly used for watching music videos.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Speaker cables-Using 8 guage car audio cables used for connecting amp to battery. Interconnects-Monster cable Interlink Reference 2.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Just recently placed an Environmental Potentials 2500 across my mains.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): All rock from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Listen to a lot of Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, Kansas, Styx, Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan. Listen to very little from the last decade. My wife is 5 years younger than me, she really thinks I listen to old stuff.
System Goals/Comments: Would like to get an Audio Tropic preamp to drive my 10K ohm input impedance amps.
System Strengths: Very natural sounding system. Sounds phenomenal with Orchestra based rock. Anyone who has listened to the CD 'Orchestral Music of YES' will know what I mean.
System Weaknesses: Needs some tube lushness. Even though the Audio Research line stage is a pure tube signal path, it actually sounds somewhat solid state. Very, Very good solid state, but solid state sounding just the same. The Counterpoint preamps I have heard in the past have more of the kind of sound I'm looking for.
Video/HT System: None
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Former pacemaker technician/analyst(10 yrs). Now have some rental property.
