Bigun 's Bigun's System System
IP Address: 216.16.247.154 Last Update: October 02, 2012 at 13:17:29
Amplifier: 6AS7 SET / or DIY SS amp clone of AKSA from Aspen Amplifiers
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: DIY Onken style 4" full range driver - Oct 2012 now using DIY mono speaker with Audio Nirvana Super 15" Ferrite
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: YBA CD player
Turntable/Phono Stage: None - if I had any vinyl I'd love to go and get myself a turntable and phono
Other Source(s): Magnum Dynalab analogue tuner
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: 16 swg from Home Depot - ha !
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): None
Room Comments/Treatments: None
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Rock, french folk, some jaz, the Top 40, classical (esp. piano and violin)
System Goals/Comments: I'm still learning. Would like to try a mono set up, open baffle 2-way or 2-way horn speaker, bi-amped with 6C4C (i.e. 2A3) based SET for mid-hi and 6L6 based PP for lows. And if I ever get some good vinyl to play I'd want a turntable and tube phono
My dream speaker is a Danley Synergy... alas beyond my ability to design and build at this point
System Strengths: musical without listening fatigue
System Weaknesses: music: not very dynamic, can't play loud enough, weak at frequency extremes. Very limited in good source material
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Panasonic 4000
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: No Receiver. Blu-ray directly connected to Bryston BP-60 (2 channels) and to a DIY 3 solid-state channel amp of my own design
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): PMC FB1s and B&Ws, plus DIY push-push dual 8" driver sealed subwoofer with plate amp. Centre speaker is a DIY unit that will be replaced with a PMC DB1 recently purchased
Sources (DVD/VCR): Sony blu-ray with analogue audio output.
Comments on HT System: has punch and clarity
