Amplifier: Qinpu A6000 Mk. II hybrid. Solid state power op amps driven by 5670W triodes. 16 Watts/ch. Chinese designed and made, about $250, but no support given.
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Homebrew Autoformer Volume Control (AVC). 80% nickel core. Scrap material. About $150 for switches and knobs and wire.
Speakers: Cambridge S-30 minimonitors, about $250. Modified crossover using Duelund capacitors to the tweeters.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Schiit BiFrost with USB option. No Uber upgrade yet. PC MP3 and high rez audio files and JRiver player on Windows 7. About $500.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: van den Hul speaker cables and homebrew shielded twisted pairs as interconnects. About $150.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Homebrew black painted steel/sand filled speaker monitor stands. About $200 to have built.
Tweaks: Hanging blanket on centered TV for removal of its reflections.
Room Size (LxWxH): 19' x 15' x 8'
Room Comments/Treatments: Normal furniture in a studio apartment, no coffee table in the way.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical, Various Jazz, Rock, Pop.
System Goals/Comments: The most natural and detailed soundstage for the least amount of money. Must fit with little space available.
System Strengths: It makes high-end sound for a low price. Fits in a small room.
System Weaknesses: No big bass. No good turntable system.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Who cares
