Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): PS Audio P20
Custom Rack/Bench butcher block maple
Sugar Cube
Wild-Heerbrugg M5 Microscope
Tweaks: Stillpoints (record weight), Isoaccoustics (isolate speakers), Phoenix Engineering (regulate speed of Prime)
Room Size (LxWxH): 24' x 14' x 12'
Room Comments/Treatments: Tile floor on concrete slab, area rugs and wall hangings absorb reflections. Walls are concrete block with drywall and quite stiff. The room is asymmetrical, open at one end with a corner cut off at the opposite end. This minimizes comb filtering.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Jazz, mostly traditional, a lot of Mosaic sets. Been listening to a lot of vocal lately.
Classical sometimes.
Rock sometimes.
System Goals/Comments: Near/Borderline Grade A without breaking the piggybank. Vinyl is principle focus. A lot of cartridges, current favorite is Soundsmith Hyperion.
System Strengths: With the best recordings the listener is presented with performers right there in the room in front of him/her.
System Weaknesses: I don't hear anything obvious, but recent upgrades: GAT2, TEA1, and Hyperion have been significant. A bigger sound room would make the most difference. Not going to happen. Maybe a better TT or maybe subs are the next step. But I don't expect lot from either.
Video/HT System: None
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Cycling (both motor-BMW, and pedal-recumbent), kayaking, history (US and German). Chem E.
