brewthunda's TV Room System
Last Update: November 18, 2002 at 16:47:05 IP Address: 208.36.249.168
Amplifier: Marantz SR7000
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): none
Speakers: Cerwin Vega VS120 (these are actually perfect for home theater);

NHT Super Zeros for surrounds

NHT Super Center

Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Pioneer DV-F727 300+1 disc DVD/CD changer
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Better Cables 1M 75ohm digital coax (DVD-Receiver)

MIT Terminator 3 1M interconnects (DVD-Receiver for movies with mono sound tracks)

12' MIT Terminator 2 speaker cables.

Monster XP (white) for surround speakers/center channel

Some random Phoenix Gold 10' interconnect from TV to receiver

Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Lovan Classic I component rack - sand filled. (actually the receiver and DVD are temporarily stacked on top of one of the speakers. It works fine for now. At some point I'd like to put them on the Lovan in the closet. But I'll wait until I'm motivated to make up a complete set of 20 foot audio, S Video and Component cables.)

Monster HTS-2000 power strip

Tweaks: acoustical foam placed behind speaker ports
Room Size (LxWxH): 10 x 8 x 9
Room Comments/Treatments: I've turned one of the smaller bedrooms in a 3 bedroom ranch house into a dedicated tv room. The floor is hardwood. No fancy treatments.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Used 85% for DVD's; 15% for Xbox. I don't have cable or an antenna hooked up for normal TV .. and don't really feel any great need to do so any time soon. See my family room system for musical tastes.
System Goals/Comments: It's just the tv room. It's complete and does its job. No future goals that I can think of.
System Strengths: It's a great little home theater setup. The Xbox is actually a lot of fun (I'm not a huge gamer and actually received this as a gift from my brother, but I gotta admit that it's fun - especially cooperative play after a few beers). Most important of all - it's out of the way; I don't have a tv dominating my living or family rooms.
System Weaknesses: None that I can think of. The room is a little bright, but an area rug should fix most of that.
Video/HT System: None
TV/Projector: 36" Sony Wega XBR250
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Music, Reading, Painting, Budget Tropical Travel. Corporate Attorney
