Speakers: klipschorns (104dB spl, 1W @ 1m)
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony CDP-X33ES
Turntable/Phono Stage: Sony PS-LX510 w/Audio-Technica AT-216EP cartridge
Other Source(s): Sony DTC-75ES DAT recorder
Sony ST-S550ES am/fm tuner
Akai HX-A3X cassette deck for making road tapes.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Radio Shack Mega Cable (12ga.)
Radio Shack Gold
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): CWD lowboy cabinet (oak)
Archer (Radio Shack) "Auto Controller" surge protector/ac noise filter outlet strip
Tweaks: RPG ProFoam
Room Size (LxWxH): 18.5 x 16.0 x 8.67
Room Comments/Treatments: Triple layers of RPG profoam flank each k-horn. Also two triple layer treatments on center of front wall, flanking (future) center speaker.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classic Rock, Contemporary Folk, Jazz, Classical, Pop, Country, Bluegrass, Rock, etc. A little of practically everything.
System Goals/Comments: Smoother bass. Currently fighting 50hz and 80hz nulls (-12dB & 8dB respectively). I believe adding a belle klipsch center speaker will help imeasurably.
System Strengths: Super clean, with fantastic micro and macro dynamics. Rock solid imaging. Will play as loudly as you will ever want with no audible distortion or compression, even in the bass. Midrange clarity is stunning. Plucked strings will jolt you out of thinking you are only listening to a recording. Extremely revealing presentation. Accurately portrays large scale sonic events.
System Weaknesses: Problematic bass smoothnes in this room. Bass extension "only" to about 35hz. Very small sweet spot. Long wall set-up needs belle klipsch center to more accurately size centered images.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Magnavox 46" rptv
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Sony TA-E1000ES A-V pre/pro
Sony TA-N220 4x45W amp
Sony TA-N110 2x45W amp
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Optimus Pro 77 (x5)
Optimus Pro SW12
Sources (DVD/VCR): Sony SLV-575UC vhs hi-fi
Sony EV-P10U 8mm player
Other HT Gear: none
Comments on HT System: Admittedly, very low brow. Sony AV preamp is a cast-off from my audio system. Video is NOT a priority of mine (obviously). Main use is to watch Rams and Chiefs games or kids' movies and home movies.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Besides audio and music; pro football, my kids, my wife, home projects and church. (not necessarily in that order).
