Room Comments/Treatments: Listening sofa is against wall, speakers placed in an approx 9'x9'x9' triangle from listening position, with about about 20' space behind them. Linen roman shades on one side of room. Need more art on the walls.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): All. including: classical, jazz, rock, folk, electronica, world, etc.
System Goals/Comments: Goal: enjoyment of music

Rock, Electronica - doesn't matter if system is not 'hi-fi', still enjoyable. But for any acoustic instrument / vocal... put it this way, I was never into recorded jazz until I heard it on good vinyl playback. Currently considering a phono stage upgrade, REL subwoofer, eventually 300b or other SET monoblocks.

System Strengths: Acoustic instruments & vocals sound pretty good. This system has introduced me to styles of music I never previously appreciated. Makes me buy records.
System Weaknesses: Not much 'wow' factor at first listen - Most friends don't really get it and are not really listening, they assume I'm fussy about soundstage/detail and don't hear the subtle emotional quality.

Doesn't rock - not much punch/slam, or boogie factor.

Makes me buy records.

Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Proscan 27' in bedroom for dvd rentals
Comments on HT System: Music reproduction is what it's all about. HT doesn't have much aesthetic value, more about wow factor then a really deep, meaningful experience. (example: how many HT buffs are really motivated to spend $$ on their system so they can better enjoy independant or foreign films?)
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Garage band (electric bass). Home recording: Homestudio - PC DAW running Logic 5, Echo Mona soundcard, various instruments, Midi keyboard, drumpad, mics.
