System Goals/Comments: Improve as finances permit. Would like a tube preamp. May get a T-amp for hot weather listening.
System Strengths: Using EV LS12's, Hawthorne Audio 15" Augies for bass, small horn super tweeter: Very coherent sound, natural voice reproduction, dynamics good with 30 watt PP triode tube amp. Bass clean using Augies crossed at 80 Hz, 4th order, driven by Rythmic Audio Direct Servo amp.
2nd pair of speakers: Hawthorne Audio 15 SSI Coaxial (mid-bass drivers only), 15" Augie crossed at 50 Hz driven by Rythmic plate amp, Radian 475 CD drivers mounted to QSC 10x16 horns crossed with homemade 2nd order XO at 1 kHz:Can play loud and clean. Dynamics are great using 60 w PP ultra-linear amp, highs very clean. Bass is awesome from top to bottom (30 Hz).
System Weaknesses: The EV LS12 fullrange drivers are only rated for 20 watts continuous, 40 watt peaks. Have be a bit careful. 95 dB sensitivity with no XO plays quite loud, but not LOUD! Hawthorne SSI 15 w/Radian/QSC combo does LOUD, but lacks the magic midrange of the EV fullrange. Voices are good, but not quite magical like the EV LS12's. Imaging not quite as good as the EV's in the sweet spot, but does cover a wider listen area.

Comments on HT System: system always being updated and tweaked as finances (rarely) are available.
