Amplifier: Blue Circle BC2, 75wpc SE Tube/SS Monoblocks for mid/highs and Parasound HCA 2200MkII, 200wpc for Bass
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Blue Circle BC21 tube preamp
Speakers: Von Schweikert VR4 with Albert's VR4-5/7 Mod, and Von Schweikert VRS/3 Subwoofer
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony XA777ES SACD Player with Sony TA-P9000ES for remote control management
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Radio Shack 12 gauge gold speaker cable, Audioquest and Radio Shack gold interconnects
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Blue Circle Music Ring Balanced Power Conditioners (two MR1200's for power amps and sub and one MR 800 for upstream components); Roomtunes Rack
Room Size (LxWxH): 24 x 20 x 10
Room Comments/Treatments: Room has big openings to other parts of house; gives nice reverb, making sound seem more live than my old closed listening room.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Movie Sound Tracks, Classical, Jazz, Some Pop/Rock
System Goals/Comments: Life-like sound and dynamics
System Strengths: Electrostatic-like mid-range clarity, air, and speed due to VR4-5/7 Mods and synergistic match with Blue Circle tube equipment and balanced power conditioner. Good bass slam due to bi-amping with SS bass amp and VRS/3 sub. Jazz ensembles sound incredibly lifelike from the top-end to the deepest drum beats and bass notes, due to mid-range clarity combined with strong but articulate bass foundations.
System Weaknesses: Massed orchestral strings can still sound congested at times.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Toshiba 55" TP55H80 Rear Projection TV
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Denon AVR 3300
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Atlantic Technology System 350 with Velodyne F1800R Subwoofer
Sources (DVD/VCR): Sony DVP S 550D
Comments on HT System: Tuned with Ovation Avia setup disk, picture on 7 year old Toshiba projector still looks remarkably good for its age. Big Velodyne Sub gives good underpinning to sound and matches well with Atlantic Tech gear.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Science Fiction, Bicycling, Fitness, Traveling, Science and Technology
