gadsons's Main Jammy For Now System |
| Last Update: January 15, 2002 at 22:23:23 | IP Address: 64.252.66.93 |
| Amplifier: | ARC VT-130SE (Infincapped) running Svetlana KT-88 power tubes with NOS 6h23 input tubes. |
| Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): | ARC LS-5 MkII running NOS 6h23s. |
| Speakers: | Wilson Watt2/Puppy2. I'm looking for Puppy Paws so if you've got them to go email me. |
| Sources: | |
| CD Player/DAC: | Naim Audio CDX |
| Other Accessories/Room/Misc.: | |
| Speaker Cables/Interconnects: | Nordost SPM CD to Pre / MIT Terminator Proline Pre to Amp / MIT 750 Tube Terminator Series II Speaker Cable |
| Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): | Chang Lightspeed 6400 ISO for source and Pre. Separate 20 Amp Lines with hospital grade outlets for Amp and for source/Pre |
| Tweaks: | Lots of Sorbothane. Sorbothane mats between Watt and Puppy is THE tweak for older Wilsons. |
| Room Size (LxWxH): | 20 x 12 x 7 |
| Room Comments/Treatments: | By far the most money I have spent on any aspect of my system. Walls angled at the intersections to eliminate right angle corners. Double rocked with sound absorbtion channeling between the sheetrock layers and special insulation in the wall. Insulated floor and carpeted. |
| Music Preferences and Comments: | |
| Music Used (Genre/Selections): | All |
| System Goals/Comments: | ALMOST exactly where I want it. Isn't that always the case? Open, full, rich, natural, smooth, and detailed all at the same time. Want to add a Power Plant 300 for the source/pre and an Ultimate Outlet for the amps to see what they'll do. As soon as I can find a set of the NOS good stuff for my preamp (a set that costs less than $500 for 10 tubes) I'll take that plunge. Thinking about some Quattro-Fil between Pre and Amp. One of these days I'll get around to dropping the big dough on an XPS but its a fairly low priority. Might eventually wave in a LS-5 Mk III and then a Ref 1 just to keep feeding this habit. |
| System Strengths: | Succulent. Makes you shiver. God speaks to me in my listening room. |
| System Weaknesses: | Just a tad slow but I don't see how I can speed things up without taking a significant step down in sound quality. Could use better low bass definition. We'll see what happens as I roll preamp tubes. Probably won't help the speed any but I can probably improve bass def some. |
| Video/HT System: Separate | |
| TV/Projector: | Sony KV36XBR400 |
| Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: | Rotel RTC-965 Pre/Tuner/Processor, Rotel RB985 5 channel amp |
| Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): | Vandy 1B Mains and Surrounds, Vandy VCC Center, HSU VTF-2 Sub |

| Other HT Gear: | Nak CD Player2, Sony MD Recorder, Sonic Frontiers Ultra Jitterbug, Monster HT-something Line Conditioner. Combination Audioquest, Monster, and MIT interconnect and cables. |
| Comments on HT System: | Great for movies, but my NAD 3020 sounds better for music. I overdid it here. |
