Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Monster AVS 2000 voltage stabilizer, HTS 5100 line conditioner
Room Size (LxWxH): 20 x 15 x 8
Room Comments/Treatments: rug, furniture, whatever the WAF allows
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): classical (full orchestra), classic rock, jazz
System Goals/Comments: In the middle of a revamp (speakers/amp/receiver/cables new) Eventually want to upgrade source material - outdated CD/DAC, cheap dvd, tuner. Limited by $$$ (married with 2 kids), and house layout.
System Strengths: speakers - better than my environment deserves - they are pulling double duty in a 2 channel and HT setup. Very good amp/preamp. Great detail, dynamics - Genesis Vs are great if set up properly (mine are not)
System Weaknesses: Pulling double duty, the dipole Gen Vs have a large armoire between them, a big no-no. No alternative to placement due to room. The front end of the system is not in the same league as the speakers/amp/pre. Setup is severly compromisedby the fact that the room serves as our family room - very limited in component placement
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Panasonic CT-32HX40 hdtv ready flat screen
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: B&K AVR305 receiver - good processor + 150 watts/5 channels
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Genesis 750, Boston Voyager Pro surround, rear surround
Sources (DVD/VCR): Toshiba SD 1600 DVD player
Other HT Gear: DIRECTV Sat. feed
Comments on HT System: TV was Christmas gift - good, not great. 32-34 is as big as armoire will allow. Surround/rear surrounds so-so. At time of purchase, was told by interior decorator to find something "white that comes with wall brackets" within the hour or two that HT installers were to arrive. There are a lot of compromises, but we enjoy the system quite a bit.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Musician - Los Angeles Philharmonic. Enjoy golf, cars (BMW M3), computers.
