Cardon's Cardon's System System
Last Update: February 18, 2002 at 02:37:07 IP Address: 24.100.153.175
Amplifier: Sony TAN9000 ES (Power Amp), Sony DA-50 ES (receiver)
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Sony DA-50 ES
Speakers: Sound Dynamics RTS-11
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony CDP-240, and CDP-230 200 Disc Changers (Ack!, Convenience over Sound Quality--At least they keep Dust and finger prints off the Discs!)
Turntable/Phono Stage: None
Other Source(s): Toshiba SD-2200 DVD/HD CD player
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Acoustic Researh & Monster
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Technics SH GE-70 Equalizers (used rarely. Mostly to boost/filter media containing old or lower quality recordings)
Tweaks: Cosmetic Customization. Veneered and refinished the RTS-3 speakers.
Room Size (LxWxH): 15 x 12 x 8
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Enjoy most music types, but Alternative, and Country to a lesser degree, and almost no Rap, & Disco.
System Goals/Comments: Want to eventually get a true preamp (not integrated), slowing get into Modifications, but aprehensive while equipment is under warranty. Starting on old "cycled out compontents". Would also like to have a separate room and systems for Home Theatre vs. Audio, but need a bigger house first.
System Strengths: Love the RTS-11, and the Power Amp. Satisfied with the other speakers. I can live with the Receiver serving as the pre-amp (for now.)
System Weaknesses: The CD Changers are fine for casual listening, but the system could benefit from the addition of a higher quality single Disc player fo serious listening. The room is the Biggest weakness - There are only three actual walls, and the rear wall is mostly double sliding wooden doors. There is no left wall, it's just a curtain. additionally Front speakers are not Magnetically shielded, so positioning is difficult with the big T.V.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Sony Wega XBR 36"
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Sony TAN9000 ES (power Amp), Sony DA-50 ES (receiver)
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Sound Dynamics RTS-11 (front)
Athena AS-C1 (Centre)
Sound Dynamics RTS-1 (sides)
Sound Dynamics RTS-3 (rear)
Sound Dynamics CS-1000 (spares)
D-Box 250 Amplified Sub
Sources (DVD/VCR): Toshiba SD-2200 DVD/HD CD player
Comments on HT System: Love my T.V.
