neolith's The Carriage House System
IP Address: 73.147.175.202 Last Update: October 06, 2018 at 17:37:30
Amplifier: Wyred4Sound ST-500
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): ARC SP-16

Speakers: Magnepan 3.7i running full range with a Rel Strata III subwoofer set at 38 hz.
Alternate: Hifiman HE-400s Headphone with Objective O2 headphone amplifier.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Replaced CDP with a Raspberry Pi with music on a HD. Schiit Modi 2 Uber DAC. All the music files are FLAC, no MP3 for me.
Turntable/Phono Stage: 1)Linn Sondek (Valhalla) with Magnepan Unitrac I tone arm and Grado Red and Herbie's Excellent Turntable Mat.
2) Denon DP-55K with Unitrac I tonearm and DV Karat 17D2 MkII. Lundahl Step-up Transformer Kit (LL9206) from K&K Audio. (Primary table)

Other Source(s): Sansui TU-919 AM/FM tuner

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Belden 89259 IC'S with Eichmann's from Heartland Cables. Speaker cables: 16 AWG magnet wire with light twist ALA Anti-cables. No terminations on the speaker cables.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Dedicated 20 amp Main for the amp and two dedicated 15 amp Mains for rest of equipment. Marinco outlets.
Tweaks: At this point no tweaks other than an RC parallel network at the speaker input to block RF. My goal is to redesign the OEM crossover to a parallel analog and then to active bi-amp. The jumpers and fuses are on the deep-six list.
Room Size (LxWxH): 20' x 23' x 7 to 8'
Room Comments/Treatments: The room is ~20'x23' with a 6' by 8' bathroom in the back corner making it L-shaped. Speakers on long wall. Laminate engineered bamboo floor. DIY corner bass traps using Roxul Rockboard 60. This is a dedicated room, separate from the house, and has its own bath and kitchen -- sort of a studio apartment. The power supply comes directly from the transformer app. 30' away and is a steady 120v.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical, including 20th century, opera and lots of baroque, jazz (especially Charles Mingus) but also some Bluegrass (Doc Watson, etc) and a limited amount of rock.
System Goals/Comments: Wide sound stage with proper imaging and depth. Warmth and musicality with accurate rendition of acoustic instruments.
System Strengths: Superb integration of the drivers with a wide and deep sound stage and accurate imaging.
System Weaknesses: Low WAF and I need more vinyl and CD's. None of these is a resolvable problem.
Video/HT System: None
TV/Projector: 32" LCD between the speakers so I can listen to Mozart while watching NASCAR
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Showing dogs (Havana Silk Dogs), surf fishing, bicycle riding, photography, NASCAR, occasional woodworking.
