Coltrane's Stonehenge and the shrine of sound System
Last Update: May 11, 2002 at 18:07:33 IP Address: 66.183.67.60
Amplifier: Dynaco ST 70 w/ Electro Harmonix EL34's
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Stock foreplay
Speakers: DIY 6 ft voigt pipes currently w/ modified 1286c. Also have a pair of sealed 15" home built subs.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Pioneer 333 DVD w/ ART DI/O
Turntable/Phono Stage: Thorens TD 150
Other Source(s): VCR and TUNER
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: All 30 guage magnet wire
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Home built racks
Tweaks: Not as many as there should be but I have all equipment on an mdf sandwich with inner tube suspension and a funky spike system of my own design.
Room Size (LxWxH): 20 x 12 x 9
Room Comments/Treatments: Speakers are out form the long wall. No room treatments yet except Thorsten's speaker positioning system
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Virtually everything - good is goog - but settling in on celtic/american bluegrass, beethoven, Glenn Gould, the amazing and sorely missed Jeff Buckley
System Goals/Comments: Very happy with all the parts except a better dvd/cd/sacd player would be nice, now I want to arrange them and get the most out of them.
System Strengths: Love the isolation of instruments in the soundstage. Sometimes the detail of vocals or violin or guitar takes my breath away. Nice and dynamic. Single point source is the only way for me.
System Weaknesses: Sound doesn;t go back as deep as I would like.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: nothing special
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: same as above
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): same as above
Sources (DVD/VCR): same as above and old TEAC VCR
Other HT Gear: An old Luxman processopr with hafler matrix built in that I use exclusively when it is hooked up.
Comments on HT System: nothing special
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Art, metaphysics / shamanism, movies, the human condition and the blood in me - hockey
