Room Size (LxWxH): 24 x 19 x 8
Room Comments/Treatments: ASC tubetraps and Echobuster panels placed around the room.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Mostly Jazz, Classic Rock and the Grateful Dead. You know, the usual suspects. Monk, Miles, MJQ, Brubeck, and pretty much all of the 60's Blue Note stuff. I also have a pretty healthy collection of filthy, greasy and groovin' organ groups.
System Goals/Comments: A relaxed, musical and well integrated presentation. I want my system to create a pleasing sonic environment for me, not necessarily a knock you out of your chair startlingly accurate one.
System Strengths: Frighteningly dynamic and alive. Throws a huge, yet tightly focused and transparent soundstage.
System Weaknesses: I've lived with the Trio's for about a year now and find myself wanting to listen less and less. I don't know if this is a complement or an insult to AG, but the speakers are too "alive" and in your face. They make you (me) perk up and take notice of what's happening and don't allow you to chill out and relax and enjoy the music. To me, they (I) have lost their musical appeal . I realized that I don't want a live band playing in my room. I want my system to create the sounds that will put me at ease. I was blown away by them when I first bought them but I find myself missing the smoothe, relaxed, coherant and MUSICAL presentation of my old Kharmas more each day. I recently bought Lamm stuff again with the intent of matching it with new Kharmas when I find a model that sounds right to me in my room. Look for a pair of green Trios on Audiogon soon.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: 40" Mitsubishi, circa 1994
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Some Pioneer model from Best Buy.
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): An Infinity model from Circuit City.

Sources (DVD/VCR): A JVC progressive scan from Best Buy.
Comments on HT System: 99.999% of the movies release aren't worth watching once, let alone multiple times in hi-fi. I have no desire to hear Adam Sandler belch in quality 5-channel surround. I won't be upgrading until something breaks. And when it does, it's back to Best Buy.
