Jim Doyle's 845 SET System

Amplifier: ca. 2003 ab initio design of a low B+ 845 SET. Featuring all Electraprint Iron (MTK6 OPT, 3033-2 Interstages). Komuro-style 6P5G-6W6 direct coupled IT driver. It runs about 6W at 510V plate voltage.
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): none - 2Vpp sensitive - input attenuator

Music Used (Genre/Selections): folk, blues/jazz, classic rock. Clapton, SRV, Dire Straits, Pretenders, Jackson Brown, Nanci Griffith, Kate Wolf, Elton John, Indigo Gurls, Michelle Shocked, Carpenters, Ella, Neil Young, Dixie Chicks, Natalie Merchant, the list goes on.
System Goals/Comments: Learned a boatload about design, metalwork (CAD) and EE in the two years I took to iterate on the amplifier design.
System Strengths: Vivid. Fresh. Emotional. Beatiful to look at when its fired up and running.
System Weaknesses: It runs hot in the summertime ; and you might get electrocuted if you do something stupid, like lick the 866A's plate caps. :)

Sources (DVD/VCR): OTA DTV only. In Boston, I get 21 channels
on my antenna!
