Woosley 's Sony/Bryston/PMC System
Last Update: January 15, 2003 at 15:47:35 IP Address: 64.134.114.222
Amplifier: Bryston 4BST. Creek OBH-11SE headphone amp.
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Bryston BP25
Speakers: Professional Monitor Company MB2 speakers sitting on their overpriced consumer stands
A pair od Sennheiser HD600 headphones
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony SCD-1
Other Source(s): Sony DAT
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: triwired with Van Damme 6mm speaker cables, custom built balanced interconnects
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Ash design rack
Tweaks: Some silly cones which I don't really believe make any difference
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical orchestral, chamber music, especially 20th Century, R&B, some blues and jazz
System Goals/Comments: Accuracy. I wanted to reach back to the recording through a chain of unbroken, non-distorting accuracy
System Strengths: Accuracy, detail, dynamics, slam, the ability to make effortless clean noise.
System Weaknesses: The speakers are far too big, they dominate the room from an aesthetic point of view. They are so hostile looking that sometimes I'm scared to be alone in the room with them!
I also have a suspicion that the MB2s could do with even more muscular Bryston 7B monoblocs or the 14BST amp.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Sony Wega 32"
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Yamaha E800
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Phantom centre and Tannoy M1 surrounds.
Sources (DVD/VCR): Pioneer DV717
