David Lundin's Systemet System
Last Update: September 15, 2000 at 02:00:22 IP Address: 194.18.122.251
Amplifier: Rotel RB991 Poweramp
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Harmony Design Pre-906 fully upgraded (balanced from input to output, several separate PSU's, 24step ELMA attenuator volcontrol etc.) except built-in 24-bit DAC.
Speakers: Mumma Audio's Mosen with matching Mosen's Under for the low bass (In a config similar to Watt/Puppy). [Sensitivity: approx 87db/W/m Freq.response <30Hz to 20Khz. Nom.impedance 8 ohms. min impedance 5 ohms.]
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Pioneer PD-S06 soon to be modifed with new Clock, a transformerbased (Lundahl 7903 1:8) outputstage and extra PSU, all from Harmony Design (harmony@royal.net). Balanced outputs will be added (balanced signal tapped from the transformers).
Turntable/Phono Stage: Thorens TD166 Mk2 with standard arm and a Shure M95ED cartridge (to be connected to the built-in phonostage of the preamp). [It all plays surprisingly good for a $85 investment (phonostage not included of course that cost a lot more but will also stay in the system...)]
Other Source(s): Portable Minidisc, Sony MD-R30 (recordable).
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Nordost Flatline Blue Heaven [CD-pre], balanced DIY-cable with Neutrik XLR's [pre-power] and DIY cat5-based speakercables, I'm currently looking to replace/revise/rebuild these...
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): DIY UBYTE-M mainscable to Preamp (other mainscables coming, CDP first)
Tweaks: DIY-spikes under CDP, Preamp and Poweramp. Clock and DAC in CD-player damped/weighted with Blu-Tac and Lead (bullets actually...).
Room Comments/Treatments: Concrete walls/floor etc, 1/3" carpet that covers most of the floor [what is not already covered with furniture that is], 1/2" thick, small persian mat under each speaker. Currently looking into proper damping of walls (some are "naked" right now).
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): I like Classical (most kinds, Cello has to be favorite instrument though, whether in Classical music or not), Jazz (most kinds, not really into fusion though), Rock'N'Roll, Hardrock, Heavy Metal, Synth, Goth, Hip-Hop/Rap, mm... I love Tori Amos among many others. Got most Depeche Mode albums, Hendrix mm... currently expanding my Goth selection and female vocalists.
System Goals/Comments: To maintain a sound as close to neutral as absolutely possible within (for me) reasonable limits AND without loosing any of the music's qualities in the process (ie NOT "correct but boring" sound). I want every part of my system to be "neutral", I'm not fond of "one fault to hide another" way of building a system [or a piece of equipment btw]. I'm getting there...
System Strengths: Coming...
System Weaknesses: Coming...
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: 29" Hitachi (with mostly unused stereospeakers).
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Sony STR-DE505 (Sony's top Pro-logic reciever -97 or so, dated when compared to todays similarly priced units though).
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Front: Some large Cabasse (got a few years on their neck) that works nice for movies (and parties). Center: Sony ES-something (top model -97, not near todays top models.) Surrounds: None currently, Sub: None [The frontspeakers have quite decent bassresponse, good enough for a decent movie-experience.).
Sources (DVD/VCR): Some lower midclass Hitachi VCR. (Looks expensive though :-)
Other HT Gear: El-thicko DIY coaxspeakercables for Front speakers.

Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: I work as PC Coordinator at IFS in Sweden [www.ifsworld.com]

Other interests/hobbies include: Mountainbiking (not enough sadly...). And getting seriously drunk with my friends during weekends while forcing my music onto them (with much success mostly...).
