Last Update: May 27, 2004 at 18:20:22 IP Address: 216.214.12.167
Amplifier: QUAD 909 - 150w/ch, 250w into 4 ohms
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): QUAD 99
Speakers: Harbeth Monitor 30 & REL Stadium II sub.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Meridian 508.24 CDP for redbook playback, EVS modded Pioneer DV-45A universal player for SACD, DVD-A.
Other Source(s): Ye Olde Onkyo T-22 tuner.

Old Toshiba TV (to navigate the functions on the dang Pioneer player!)

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Speaker - AQ Granite single bi-wire.

CDP-Pre - Discovery Signature (Meridian) and Acoustic Zen Matrix Ref II (Pioneer)

Pre-Power - Quadlink or Magnan Type Vi

Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Monster 2000 power conditioner used for all except power amp. FMI outlet. The Absolute Power Cord on REL and Pioneer, Shunyata Diamondback PC on Meridian, all others have stock power cords.
Tweaks: BDR #4 cones under QUAD amp & Pioneer. BDR #3 cones under Meridian. 2" maple shelves and bicycle tube under Meridian and Pioneer.
Room Size (LxWxH): 17' x 11' x 8'
Room Comments/Treatments: 3 Argent Room Lenses - one outboard of each Harbeth and one in between. Room Tunes- Corner, Echo, Tuning Strips and floor Room Tunes.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Rock (classic, alternative, hard, soft - you name it), jazz and "smooth" jazz, some electronic, dance, classical and world music.
System Goals/Comments: "First, do no harm." To reproduce instruments and voices with accurate tonality and texture, sense of openness and "unspeaker-like" sound. Ability to sound good with a wide variety of recordings/music types.
System Strengths: Wonderfully lifelike midrange and very smooth, sweet treble due to Harbeth RADIAL bass-mid and SEAS Excel tweeter. Harbeths have taught me that musicality and accuracy are not mutually exclusive, doesn't make lesser recordings sound worse than they actually are (like much high-end gear IMHO).
System Weaknesses: Cables aren't British (!). OK, my room is currently the weakest link. Will be using CARA software to minimize irregularities in bass response.
Video/HT System: None
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Sports, travel, good food, beer, wine, international relations.
