System Goals/Comments: 'The closest approach to the original sound'.

I've spent a long time - since 1980, building this particular system, with the goal of achieving my opening statement. Some days are diamonds and some days are stones, not always the system can be faulted, but I know when it's me that's out of tune. I've been very lucky to have some Audio Dealers who were willing to let me audition stuff in my home. Which to me is where it counts. My present wife tells me it's because I spend so much money with them - can that be true?

System Strengths: Very good sound on vocal and accurate positioning of instruments.
System Weaknesses: Bad recordings cannot be tolerated and rock music is the worst for this. Not sure that I would like to move house to one with big old rooms with high ceilings, to experiment with larger speakers systems. Only limiting factor is the present wife who doesn't much like old houses and likes this house too much.
Video/HT System: None
TV/Projector: We do not own or wish to own a T.V. The only thing we watch on t.v. is football (soccer). To do this we [the present wife and I] go to our local pub, which has a big plasma screen and all the satellite sports channels, serves real ale and is usually full of avid footie fans. Life time Liverpool FC supporter.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Football,Steam traction engines, pre-1949 Morgan sports cars/ gardening and painting/ Rotating Equipment Engineer-Oil&Gas Industries.
