DubalYew's Dubz' System
Last Update: April 28, 2003 at 08:56:16 IP Address: 32.97.110.70
Amplifier: Perreaux E160i (160 @ 8ohm, 200 @ 4)
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): none
Speakers: Magnepan MMG w/ DIY stands
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony DVD player
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: zip cord, cheap-as-possible signal tape ICs
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): DIY salamander/flexy copy (4 16"x24" MDF shelves on 3' threaded rod)
Tweaks: innertube air suspension under DVDP
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Bluegrass, jazz, rock, folk, classical, old-time country.
System Goals/Comments: Most of my listening is done to music without extreme LF. At the price point I'm dealing with, you have to make choices about the focus of the system. With the Maggies I chose to forego LF in favor of soundstaging, imaging, and accurate presentation.
System Strengths: Very "musical" and involving. Makes you want to turn it up.
System Weaknesses: Lack of extreme LF and dynamics.

Used to share it w/ housemate who had better source & cables- loss of transparency and inner detail was obvious.

Video/HT System: None
