Endymion 's Main System
Last Update: June 13, 2004 at 15:28:03 IP Address: 68.4.22.240
Amplifier: Theta Dreadnaught
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Ayre K5X
Speakers: Vandersteen 5As
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony SCD-CE775
Turntable/Phono Stage: Linn Sondek LP12 Ayre P5X
Other Source(s): Harmon Kardon cassette deck, HTPC with M-Audio Revolution sound card.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Ratshack 12 gauge biamped to front speakers, blister pack interconnects (well, a few Monster cable interconnects I bought on a bad day when I couldn't find any other interconnects the right length...) Oh and some power cords that employ the strong nuclear force (see tweaks below).
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Atlantis racks cause they look nice and are well built. A monster power condition (HTPS 7000) that I won at a raffle and use on the video side of my home theater. Why anyone would buy that thing at that price when much cheaper alternatives are available I have no clue but the front panel looks impressive.
Tweaks: I put a piece of the Blarney Stone in the room and the soundstage became miles wide, there was so much air in the music a tornado spawned in the middle of the room, and I could even hear what Diana Krall was thinking between the songs. I also have a set of power cords that employ the strong nuclear force as an integral part of their makeup which is essential to their signal integrity (cool eh?).
Room Size (LxWxH): 15'6 x 15' x 8'2
Room Comments/Treatments: Room is open to kitchen on right side, thick carpet. No other room treatment... yet.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Rock, Classical, Folk, a little jazz, a little newage, a little night music...
System Goals/Comments: Engaging music reproduction.
System Strengths: Sounds great.
System Weaknesses: Less filling.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Sanyo XP21N Projector
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Denon 5800 modded to 03
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Phantom center, crappy surround speakers
Sources (DVD/VCR): HTPC, old Hitachi VCR
Comments on HT System: Projector is rather noisy but has a great picture.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: I design computer network chips. I windsurf, ski, ballroom dance, lots of reading, and waste too much time reading the amusing posts on AA.
