Last Update: September 18, 2001 at 18:29:28 IP Address: 65.14.30.14
Amplifier: Krell KSA300S; 300wpc into 8ohms/ 2400 wpc into 1 ohm: There are two in the system. One for the right channel and one for the left. Sub woofers are powered by Advanced Sound power amps; 160 wpc into 4 ohms; 2 amps...one for right and one for the left channels. I also have a set of Magic amps that are in for upgrade at the moment [hybrids made by Foster Blair; Alexandria, VA]
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): BAT VK5i...will probably upgrade to the VK5SE
Speakers: Mangepan MG-20s for midrange and midbass. 2 15" Definitive Technology drivers per subwoofer cabinet. Sub woofer cabinets are24"x24"x55". Two cabinets in the system. Don't worry....It's not loud...just clear...You should hear organ music in this puppy!!!Oh Baby!!!

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: MIT TerminatorII bi-wire Speaker Cable to Mid bass and Midrange; Monster cable M1 to subwoofers. Audioquest Lapis interconnects throughout; MIT Terminator Digital cable between Transport and DAC...
Tweaks: Room Tunes
Room Size (LxWxH): 16 x 25 x 18
Room Comments/Treatments: Not yet; still working on it
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Anything as long a it's recorded well...but mostly jazz, blues, R&B, and a little folk
System Goals/Comments: Probably will sell the Krells and go with Tubes instead. Can't get the dynamic range I'm looking for with solid state amps. Don't get me wrong...the Krells are good but I think I can do a little better...
System Strengths: Clearity. Since the system is a 3 way mono, I get pretty good imaging and soundstaging. The Krells are excellent with clarity and detail.
System Weaknesses: The Krells make the system a little too dry for my blood...and a little too hot on the top end. Going back to tubes will probably make the difference there.
Video/HT System: None
