| Tweaks: | Jon Risch Acuostic Panels at first reflection points and front wall. Foam (for right now) absroptive panels at first ceiling reflection point. Absorbant triangular panels in room corners 1x6 tongue & groove knotty pine wall panels. Becasue of the varied spacing between the panel joints, tongue in groove panels provide a modicum of bass trap effect in the room. Of course the room in NOT soundproof because of this. ETF Acoustics Program on Pentium 350 Computer Black Diamond Racing cones under Pre and CDP Shadow T. Gato, the acoustic cat. |
| Room Size (LxWxH): | 23 x 23 x 8 |
| Room Comments/Treatments: | It's the room, stoopid! ![]() Adding the Jon Risch panels elevated my room/system to a new level. It was like a major component upgrade. The ETF program is invaluable if one doesn't know what to listen for while tuning a room. It actually taught me what to listen for and showed my how to most effectively place the panels. Next task is to contruct JR bass traps to tame the LF modes in my room. ETF will help me to place the speakers at the point which will excite the modes the least. QRD's for the rear wall will follow |
| Music Preferences and Comments: | |
| Music Used (Genre/Selections): | Large Scale Classical (Romantic to modern) Acoustic Jazz, esp latin Ballroom Dance Music |
| System Goals/Comments: | I vowed not to change any equipment until I was convinced I had gotten the room right. The more 'right' I get the room, the more I find I don't want/need to upgrade a thing (Ha!) |
| System Strengths: | Dynamic, rhythmic, tonally accurate fantastic transient response and palpability. Awesome bass response. |
| System Weaknesses: | The Classe Amp has a peculiar darkness in the very upper end that I didn't appreciate until I cleaned up the AC supply. It's actually a tad euphonic. This is offset by phenomenal amounts of low level detail. |
