dorokusai's The Animal System
Last Update: May 26, 2004 at 20:41:38 IP Address: 68.48.53.212
Amplifier: CTC BBQ
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Anthem Pre-2L (Mullard Tube)
Speakers: Polk Audio SDA 1C (Modified)
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Sony SCD-C555ES
Turntable/Phono Stage: None
Other Source(s): None
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: MIT Shotgun S3 (All)
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): PS Audio Juice Bar. I unplug it when away, and only listen while a tornado is occuring. If I am going to take a flight, might as well be with my gear playing.
Tweaks: I use Bright Star Audio components throughout, and on all gear.
Room Size (LxWxH): 24 x 14 x 8
Room Comments/Treatments: None, as of yet.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): I am pretty loose in the music department, although I prefer Rock and Alternative genre's.
System Goals/Comments: I have been piecing this system together for two years. I wanted to get the best that I could for my money, within reason. After two years, I am finally able to listen TO it, instead of just look AT it. I have many hands to thank for helping me get to this point. Soupbone (Tom), Rhyno(Ryan), Frank Dai (Signal Cable), Hoosier (Russ), Joe Abrams (MIT), Ken Swauger/ Micah Cohen (Polk Audio), Paul Lemanski (Adona Corporation) and my best friend Merganser ( Jesse)...without whom, I would have never discovered this amazing hobby. John Curl and Robert Crump have also been really helpful in compiling information for this amplifier, and the help is greatly appreciated.
System Strengths: I really love the clarity, and accuracy of these vintage Polk's. They have the updated tweeter, and the SDA effect is really quite nice on many recordings. I have auditioned ALOT of speakers, just for FYI, and I still enjoy these the best. Viva la Vintage!
System Weaknesses: Bass response is not as powerful as I would like. The speed and impact of it exists, and compliments everything involved, but there is nothing like bass that scares you, IMO.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: None
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Sony STR-DA4ES
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Polk Audio RTi38/CSi30/FXi30/SVS PB1-ISD
Sources (DVD/VCR): Sony DVP-450
Other HT Gear: Monster Cable HTS-5100
Comments on HT System: I am very happy with my simple setup. I really enjoy movies, and the new SVS subwoofer, has shown me what I have been missing.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Sr. RF Field Technician - Sprint PCS
