rlindsa 's Mostly vinyl System
IP Address: 99.1.234.194 Last Update: February 09, 2010 at 13:38:48
Amplifier: Classe Delta CA-M400s
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Classe Delta CP-500 (with Phono Stage module); dormant now, since I got the Steelhead, which also has line level input (but don't listen to CDs much, so hardly ever use that feature)
Speakers: B&W Nautilus 802s
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Classe Delta CDP-100; don't use it much, though
Turntable/Phono Stage: Manley Steelhead V2; VPI Scout turntable with HRX-type platter/bearing, JMW-10.5i tonearm, Sumiko Prestige Celebration (aka Celebration II) cartridge, Gingko Cloud 10 vibration control platform
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: AudioQuest Skys for interconnects; 'custom' speaker cables - bass is double run of Audio Quest CV-4 wrapped around a single run of AQ Indigo; alto is double run of AQ Granite.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): PS Audio UPC-200
Tweaks: dedicated circuit with separate ground for amps; kleenex box under power cable
Room Size (LxWxH): 18 x 16 x 8
Room Comments/Treatments: None yet; just moved to new house
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): classical, jazz, female vocals, 60s/70s rock/folk
System Goals/Comments: rich, warm sound; great reproduction of solo piano, small ensembles; large orchestral works
System Strengths: Trips my trigger; provides great emotional involvement. Adding the TT was a major revelation - vinyl rules!
System Weaknesses: CDP-100 takes a 'long time' to 'read' the CD. But since I've 'gone vinyl', I don't listen to CDs much, so it's not a real problem.
Video/HT System: None
