Busybusy's Big Bang System
Last Update: March 25, 2002 at 13:03:30 IP Address: 12.235.78.191
Amplifier: None!
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): BAT VK5SE, upgraded with Amperex 6922 and Tungsol 5881. This is it. Can't think of a better line stage. Tried VK50SE too, but VK5SE's tube voltage regulation seems more musical, plus ability to swap NOS.

Sold:

Spectral DMC20.2, balanced module, bypassed speaker protection switch (big improvement)

Transcendental Ground Grid (2000-2000)

Audible Illusion M3A Gold Board (1998-2000)

Audible Illusion M3 (1996-1998)

Stored:

BAT VK5

Speakers: Did a CARA optimized, moved the SCM50ASL less than 1 feet, and a MAJOR improvement. I am even more impressed by ATC more than ever.

ATC SCM50ASL - 3 way active crossover, tri-amping active loudspeaker

Sources:
CD Player/DAC: DCS 972 added. Compared to a short-lived Purcell (in my system), the 972 seems to have a more accurate clock with more transparency.

Marantz CDR-620 + Apogee PSX100-SE + Stealth Varidig digital cables. CDR-620 clock-sync'd with PSX-100SE master clock.

Marantz SA-14 SACD player (excellent transport too).

Turntable/Phono Stage: Linn LP12/Ekos/Lingo/Urushi

The Urushi was newly retipped by Koetsu Japan, in its 100+ hours just broken in. The original Sugano Senior's Alnico magnets were specially requested to be retained, instead of using the more powerful neodymium as in current Koetsu by Sugano Jr.
