music 1st's Primary Enjoyment System
Last Update: October 26, 2005 at 12:36:51 IP Address: 68.203.183.238
Amplifier: AudioPax KT88 SET Monoblocks
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): BAT VK-30SE
Speakers: Avantgarde Duos
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Parasound (CET) transport and Parasound DAC
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Stage III Silver Interconnects, Speaker wire and jumpers, Stage III and VH Audio Power cords
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Grand Prix Monico amp stand

Dedicated 20a line (but still gets noisy!)

Tweaks: Herbie Audio's Halos on amp tubes as well as their isolation feet under all electronics except amps
Room Size (LxWxH): 19' x 20' x 8.5'
Room Comments/Treatments: Fully insulated walls and ceiling, double sheetrocked using different thicknesses to dampen resonant frequency, beveled corners to reduce some standing waves.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Rock, Jazz, Classical, Folk - you name it.
System Goals/Comments: Great system. Next issue is to upgrade my source components.
System Strengths: Imaging, quickness, top-to-bottom balance and coherence. Just very musical!
System Weaknesses: The speakers are so efficient (103dB) that at times the noise on the mains is loud enough to be heard from the listening seat. Cables are not the issue - got to clean up the AC without hurting anything else!
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Mitsubishi 55" HDTV
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: B&K 307
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): All Definitive Technology models and all with powered subs, including the rears
Sources (DVD/VCR): Toshiba DVD
