Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical, Rock, 1980's music, Christian/Gospel, Christian Talk Radio, and Politically Conservative Talk Radio
System Goals/Comments: A system of hi-fi/high-end, audiphile grade classic gear (especially the tuner, amplifier and turntable); I would like to upgrade the CD player some day, upgrade to good floor standing speakers (such as Paradigm, B&W, Magnepan, Vandersteen, Thiel, etc), and acquire a good vintage Nakamichi cassette deck (particularly an LX-5, a ZX-7, or something similar).
System Strengths: Built on inexpensive, but hand-picked, good condition used classic hi-fi components; great, high-end sound for the cost of an average stereo system (the cost of a mid-fi mass-market system purchased at a mega-retailer such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Ultimate Electronics, etc.).
System Weaknesses: the small speakers on stands (the Dana Audio Model 1) do not have a strong bass response and do not have the FULL sound of a good floor standing speaker. However, for the price and size of these speakers, the sound is amazing and is very musically pleasing. The Dana Audio Model 1 speakers have previously been rated by Stereophile magazine as a 'Class D' speaker/component.
Video/HT System: None
