Amplifier: Bryston 4BSST; Nominally 300W depending on load impedance.
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Audio Synthesis Passion Passive Preamp.
Speakers: DIY, ~ 88db. Scanspeak 25W, Audio Technology (Skaaning) 18 mid, Scanspeak D2905/9900 tweeter.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: CAL Tercet IV platterspinnermacher, Mark Levinson No. 36 DAC. Sony SCD=777ES en route (12/06) will receive Vacuum State mods.
Turntable/Phono Stage: VPI Scout/Benz Glider, Hagerman Bugle MC amp.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: DIY; XO at amp. Wfr 2X 9.5 Ga Cardas, Mid 5X 11.5 Cardas, Hi 5 X 21 Ag. 5 X's are quasi-ribbon -+-+-. Cardas Golden Cross DAC to pre, DIY pre to amp.
Room Size (LxWxH): 28 x 18 x 9.5
Room Comments/Treatments: Wool carpet floor, some wool carpet panels on walls. Living room semi-open to kitchen, one glass wall which has cellular blinds for diffusion.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Big Band, esp. Ellington, some later jazz, classical, 50's/60's R&B/instrumentals, early rock, Surf, Blues. Mostly acoustic.
Classical mostly Romantic (the warhorses) thru early 20th Century, incl English pastoral.
System Goals/Comments: Symphonic playback with ease.
System Strengths: True transparency, without spurious emphases. Bass, timbrel accuracy.
System Weaknesses: Symphonic crescendi tend to get into trouble, esp. CD's.
Video/HT System: None
