CollegeBum's College set up System
Last Update: January 31, 2007 at 22:37:57 IP Address: 164.107.95.173
Amplifier: Hafler 9290 145W rms plenty of power for what i need, decent head room as proved the magnepan MG3.6s back home
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Adcom GFP-555, rock solid
Speakers: Infinity Primus 360- bass extention down to 38Hz +-3dB, not bad for $658, i fitted them with spiked feet to improve midbass responce
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Denon DCD-1520
Other Source(s): Laptop (250gigs) of FLACs
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Kimber Kables, the funky lookin ones with the one wrapped around the other

Monster cable Mseries to the speakers, my speakers arent bywireable :( so i have to sacrafice the highs for every thing else

Tweaks: Built a crappy tube amp in one of my labs, i can see why some people make it their life's work

2 channel audio is boss but i was given a Stax SRD-6 energizer and SR-5 electrostatic headphones and i went ahead and took the energizer apart rewired it to bypass the output to loudspeakers, while rewiring i replaced the wires with equal length ones and seperated the tranformers from the circuit board to reduce EM interferance, also bypassed the fuse

Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Rock, jazz, classical, oh and rap but only at parties
System Goals/Comments: right now, new speakers, missing that lower octave hurts, im not sure though if i should get new speakers or a desent sub...
System Strengths: clear full vocals, midrange is stunning for what the system costs,
System Weaknesses: highs not as defined as i would like, lower octave
Video/HT System: Separate
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: OSU student, majoring in physics, aspire to work with either the mechanics or electronics of speakers.

Learning how to build crossovers

I made a 120AC-12DC converter out of old capacitors and such to hook up a car sub amp-600rms bridged to 2 12inch subs, just for parties though-never would i listen to them on my own time
