|Amplifier:||First Watt F1J (Pass upgraded F1), 10 whopping watts per channel from the kitchen table of Nelson Pass, |
Dynaco Stereo 70 with the VTA input board, modded to use 12BH7's.
A Dynaco SCA-35, after bypassing the tone controls and adding the simple EFB™ bias mod, has passed the ST-70 above as my "go to" tube amp. NEVER thought I'd be saying that about an SCA-35!
A pair of Dynaco MkIII amps has recently been taken from their 20-year slumber. I'm in the process of refurbishing them.
|Preamplifier (or None if Integrated):||"The Truth" line-stage by The Horn Shoppe, Vorhis Last PAS, Audio Research SP3A-1, and a (mostly stock) Dynaco PAS|
|Speakers:||Horn Shoppe Horns - The first speaker that's made me happy in many years.|
|CD Player/DAC:||JVC XL-Z1050TN w/op-amp mod and Black Gate output caps. |
Sometimes using an Audio Alchemy DDE 3.0 DAC with the Alchemy Power Station Two
|Turntable/Phono Stage:||Roksan Xerxes X w/Attessa Att-DS5 power supply, Rega RB-900, Denon 103R.|
Graham Slee Reflex, with the internal 7818 voltage regulator replaced with a Belleson SuperPower. Highly recommended!
CineMag step-up transformers.
Second Phono stage is the 12AX7 based board in the Vorhis preamp. I receintly upgraded to Mills wire wounds, Rel-cap teflons, and Auri-caps, all to good result.
Maplenoll air-bearing TT & Technics 110A (DD) w/JH Formula 4 arm, both in mothballs at the moment.
|Other Source(s):||McIntosh MR-78 tuner w/MI-3 scope, |
Yamaha T-80 tuner, Onkyo T-4210 tuner, and a Radio Shack TM-102 mini-tuner, Sony XDR-F1HD.
Also a Marantz 105 tuner, and 3 Dynaco FM-3 tuners. Ok, I'll admit it. I have a fascination with/addiction to tuners.
|Speaker Cables/Interconnects:||Kimber 4TC, and Kimber PBJ IC's. A silver homebrew IC between the CineMag transformers and pre-amp. Audio Magic I2S digital cable.|
|Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.):||Dedicated 20 amp AC line w/Acme silver plated/cryo'd outlet, PS Power "Quintet" power conditioner, fed by a LessLoss power cord. Zu Bok on the First Watt F1. Room Tunes clamp rack.|
|Room Comments/Treatments:||Room Tunes corner tunes. Anything beyond them took away from the Horn Shoppe Horn's performance.|
|Music Preferences and Comments:|
|Music Used (Genre/Selections):||Blues and rock. The Beatles would be my deserted island music.|
|System Weaknesses:||Can't even bench press its own weight.|
|Video/HT System: None|
|Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation:||Thirty nine years of motorcycle riding hasn't helped my hearing any, but I still love to do it. (Yes, I wear ear plugs)|
