Posy Rorer's 'Cortez, The Giant Killer' System
Last Update: April 10, 2007 at 19:53:56 IP Address: 141.76.45.35
Amplifier: Soundesign CC8801 integrated amp/tuner/
8-track cassette player (( dont have any 8-track tapes, so its mostly to stash my weed)
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): none
Speakers: LLoyd's POS91X
(single cone technology)
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Protechsonic 6502A
14-bit with undersampling
Turntable/Phono Stage: VW Bus turntable
(only turntable approved by Scooby Doo)
Other Source(s): Soundesign AH77 cassette recorder
(with digital counter)
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: speaker wires: mostly scavenged from old lamps during 'garbage day' sprees
IC: all I know is they're made in Mexico and
they came with the gear
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Audio rack by Fisher-Price
Tweaks: About $5,000 dollars worth of Belt accessories
Room Comments/Treatments: The usual: pinned back curtains, quarter round in the corners, paint color 'conducive to good sound'. All paintings foiled. No box shapes.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): I like both types of music. Country -and- western.
System Goals/Comments: My goal is to downgrade, as I feel the balance of conventional audio gear vs. PWB gear is still a bit off. And the amp is starting to look a little 'snobbish'.
System Strengths: It sours me on going to live concerts, because they can never seem to achieve as good a sound as when they play on my stereo. I haven't decided if that's a strenght or a weakness yet.
System Weaknesses: The turntable shows a lack of blackness and inner detail when its batteries start to run down.
Video/HT System: None
