yD's Low maintenance System
Last Update: September 13, 2000 at 12:23:25 IP Address: 129.105.41.19
Amplifier: Rotel RX-975 receiver
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: Thiel 1.2
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Pioneer DVD-C302D
Turntable/Phono Stage: Thorens TD-166 / Rotel's MM phonostage
Other Source(s): Nakamichi 660ZX
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: DIY Cat5 stuff
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Incongruous selections, emphasizing Jazz.
System Goals/Comments: Upgrade the JCPenny's special dating from middle school.
System Strengths: Long listening sessions are non-fatiguing; the system is not overly bright; individual instruments are distinct and true; the Thiel's produce a broad and deep soundstage; the frequency response spectrum sounds extremely flat to me (especially in contrast to some DIY speakers I've made).
System Weaknesses: At low volumes, a little less involving than I would like. I need to build a DAC for the DVD.
Video/HT System: None
