Room Size (LxWxH): 18' x 14' x 10'
Room Comments/Treatments: Room width/depth at bay window is 14', 10' elsewhere. System sits in front of bay window firing from the long 18'wall. Speakers are 5.5' out from deepest part of bay window and seating position is 18" from rear wall, 7' from speakers. No need for room treatments as speakers have been located using my own acoustic analysis of my space thereby reducing in-room anomalies dramatically. One can walk around the room and not note any dramatic shift of soundstage or tonal balance.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classic rock, 50's -70's jazz, jazz fusion, electronica, classical, any well recorded piece of music
System Goals/Comments: My 2 ch system will ultimately be running completely "off the grid" to ensure linear current delivery and dead quiet operation, noise floor located somewhere near the earth's core, pure musical performance.
System Strengths: The ultimate in transparency, dynamics, tonal balance and musicality plus versatality of 5.1 integration via the Modwright LS 36.5's home theatre by-pass switch and powered completely by "off the grid" amplifiers( except for sub's traditional built in class AB amp)
System Weaknesses: Haven't replaced my long gone Rega Planar 3 with any new analog gear YET...
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Mitsubishi HC4900 LCD1080P front projector projecting onto a Screen Innovations 80" pull down screen 1.1 gain
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Red Wine Audio Signature 70.2 mono blocks 70 watts per, bi amping centre ch; Red Wine Audio Signature 30.2 stereo amp 30 watts per, for rear speakers; Marantz SR 6001 AVR for all video/HDMI switching/5.1 activity and FM tuner
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): ELAC 201 center 38hz-50khz 89db 4 ohm, Mirage 90i's rear and Mirage FXR8 sub
Sources (DVD/VCR): Marantz DV9600 Universal player for DVD video via HDMI, 2 ch DVD-A via analog out, DVD-A 5.1 via HDMI; Sony PS3 80G for Blu Ray and multi ch SACD via HDMI
Other HT Gear: Scientific Atlanta 8300HD PVR
Comments on HT System: Very dynamic, musical, transparent, exhibits same strengths as two channel.
