Amplifier: Sugden AU41
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Sugden Signature 41
Speakers: Tannoy Eyris 2 (small floorstanders)
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: FLAC streamed via Foobar on Windows 7 Beta to Empirical Audio Freeway 2 USB interface, coax to MHDT Havana NOS tube DAC
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: QED speaker cables. Ortofon and Chord interconnects.
Room Comments/Treatments: Medium sized loungeroom
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classic rock, especially prog, and classical.
System Goals/Comments: I prefer a warm analog type of sound rather than a highly detailed stark type of sound, and my comments on the forum will reflect this. I listen almost exclusively to CD ripped to FLAC on a PC, with just a few needledrops of LP's unavailable on well-mastered CD. Also I can't stand compression, poor EQ and NR (I am a Hoffman forum member).
System Strengths: Transparency, lack of digital glare and other artifacts. Smoothness and warmth. Dynamics.
System Weaknesses: Not the ultimate in detail, but the Havana is excellent in this respect for a NOS DAC.
Video/HT System: None
