JohnJ's small apartment System
Last Update: April 11, 2001 at 16:12:07 IP Address:
Amplifier: Audiolab 8000S
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: Dunlavy SC1-AV
CD Player/DAC: Audiolab 8000CD
Turntable/Phono Stage: Rega Planar 3, Elys cartridge, Black Cube
Other Source(s): Magnum Dynalab FT11
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Kimber PBJ ICs
Cardas Quadlink 5c speaker cables
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): HD 600 headphones.
Tweaks: Speaker stands filled with sand.
Room Comments/Treatments: Small apartment living room. Weird L shape. Quilt hanging on wall behind stereo.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): punk, rock, jazz, soul, funk, world.
System Goals/Comments: Tonal accuracy, detail, imaging. I am not an audiophile - I'm just a guy with too much time on my hands who likes music and wants it to sound good. Imaging is not very important to me because it always sounds phony to me. I just want to rock out to the Flaming Lips!
System Strengths: Detail, imaging. Tuner sounds great.
System Weaknesses: Too much frigging detail (Spinal Tap allusion)- the CD front end is maybe too analitical.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Toshiba (I don't know the model)
Sources (DVD/VCR): Toshiba VCR (I don't know the model)
Comments on HT System: Usually use headphones when listening to TV shows and movies.
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Windsurfing, biking, gardening, reading, drumming.
