Amplifier: Emotiva UPA-2
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Emotiva USP-1
Speakers: Monitor Audio Silver RS6
CD Player/DAC: Emotiva ERC-1
Turntable/Phono Stage: Pro-Ject 2Xperience / Sumiko Blue Point No. 2 / Musical Fidelity X-LPSv3, X-10v3, and X-PSUv3
Other Source(s): Sony XDR-F1HD tuner
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Quadio Ultra Bi-Wire Pair Speaker Cables, Signal Cable Silver Tonearm Phono cable, misc. cheap interconnects from Acoustic Research, Monster, generic
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Music Direct MD-150 LP rack (which doubles as an equipment rack for me), Belkin PureAV PF31 power conditioner to neaten up all the power cables.
Tweaks: Six vibrapod isolators (with thin cork stuck to the bottoms to protect rack surface) under 1/2" thick MDF for turntable.
Room Size (LxWxH): 13 x 12 x
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Jazz, indie rock, 60s rock, soul, Tropicalia, bossa nova, hip-hop, classical, and a little bit of everything else.
System Goals/Comments: Recently added the Denon AH-D2000 headphones and Little Dot I+ hybrid headphone amp. Auditioned three other headphones but preferred the Denons without question. Still not as good as my speakers, but I didn't want to spend $1,000+ on headphones which I don't use as often. Eventually planning to add a Musical Fidelity X-DACv3 and Logitech Squeezebox Touch (instead of Airtunes).
System Strengths: I find it to be smooth, clear, and engaging. Listening to music in the car, on other people's computers, and via headphones is never as satisfying to me, so I'm doing something right.
System Weaknesses: Some bass issues: needs taming of a peak around 50Hz and could use some filling out below that, considering adding a subwoofer such as the Outlaw LFM-1 Plus. I also have some concerns about my phono cartridge and am looking at other options in the $200-600 range, both MC and MM.
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Panasonic TH-42PX50U
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Onkyo TX-SR805
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): NHT Classic Three (2), NHT Absolute Zero (4), NHT Classic 3C, SVS SB12+
Sources (DVD/VCR): Oppo BDP-83
Other HT Gear: Sony Playstation 3, Tivo HD XL, LG LRY-517 VCR/DVD recorder
Comments on HT System: It gets the job done. Since I built my 2-channel system above I almost never use this system for music, which is unfortunate since I am letting my multichannel albums get dusty. Considering an upgrade to a 50-54" TV.
