IP Address: 97.115.180.176 Last Update: June 30, 2010 at 22:23:35
Amplifier: Restored/lightly modded Fisher 100 tube monoblocks (30 watts per). And/or restored/lightly modded Radio Craftsman 500 tube monoblocks (10 watts per).
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Currently a NAD 1130, but a Nikko Beta III looks like it might replace it soon. I'm still looking a for a good vintage preamp that is fairly neutral.
Speakers: Vintage custom-made Altecs. 416A woofers horn loaded, 804A driver with a N800 crossover, all enclosed in amazing teak/walnut cabinets. Future plans are biamping with a external behringer CX3400 crossover.
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: nothing special
Turntable/Phono Stage: Denon DP-59L, AT OC9 cart and Denon MC transformer.
Other Source(s): Nak BX-2 tape that very rarely is switched on and a Roku media player.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Whatever crazy thick OFC cable I find at yard-sales.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Rock, Soul, Jazz and Funk. Sometimes some full orchestra or classical guitar.
System Goals/Comments: Currently its a bit large for the room, but it has speed and dynamics like you wouldn't believe. Biamping is in the near future.
System Strengths: Very nice bass and midrange.
System Weaknesses: The very high frequencies are rolled off, not much top air or shimmer. Also the imaging is a bit weak. By biamping and using the CD equalization on the crossover I hope to add to the very top end and improve imaging.
Video/HT System: None
