Music Preferences and Comments: | |
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | Main Preference is Progressive Rock Music (Pink Floyd, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Marillion, Fish, etc). I also enjoy electronic music (The Orb, Orbital, Future Sound of London, etc) I listen to 80s pop (a-ha, Mr. Mister, Duran Duran, etc.) and 90's alternative (REM, Matthew Good, Catherine Wheel, etc.) Also, Enya, Enigma, Clannad, Gloria Estefan, etc. |
System Goals/Comments: | Resolving and relaxing system. |
System Strengths: | The Hales Rev 3s are a very neutral speaker with a flat frequency response; therefore, I can listen to the system for several hours without getting listeners fatigue. The Hales Rev 3s also have excellent bass response down to 28HZ, which is great for the type of music I listen to. |
System Weaknesses: | The system resides in the Family room, which opens up into the Kitchen; therefore, there is no back wall. I feel this greatly affects the intimacy of the system. The Hales Rev 3s are not known for their upper frequency extension and therefore are not the most detailed speaker. This may be a weakness for some, but I prefer a sound on the warm side of neutral, so this is not really an issue for me. |
