IP Address: 70.90.164.117 Last Update: May 11, 2011 at 11:40:40
Amplifier: Rotel RA-931 integrated
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: B&W DM601 S2
Shure SRH-440 headphones
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Marantz CC4300 (5-disc changer)
Turntable/Phono Stage: Pro-Ject Xpression III
Sumiko Oyster cartridge
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: TARA Labs Prism bi-wire speaker cable
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Salamander D30 rack
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): rock (indie, prog, psych, metal, experimental), ambient, jazz, classical, classic R&B and funk
System Goals/Comments: Versatility between musical styles; best "bang for my buck" given my limited funds for upgrading
System Strengths: Decent entry-level system that I've assembled for only $1,500 (got Rotel amp for $50 on eBay in 2000)
System Weaknesses: Marantz CD changer is finicky when reading CDs (probably a laser alignment issue)
Oyster cartridge somewhat limited in terms of tracking hi-hats, "S" vocals, and other high-frequency sounds when prominent in the mix
Video/HT System: None
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Birding, comic books, playing drums, film, reading
