Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical, opera, jazz, film scores, folk, choral, country (if it's good) rock-a-billy. (NO HARD, ACID ROCK or RAP!) I like a full orchestra or band with accomplished musicians playing in one place at one time. I believe that recording should be an act of documenting a performance and not creating something that can only be achieved by multi tracking in a cold stale recording studio with one track and one mic per musician. The drummer comes in on Monday, the sax player can be here Tuesday and lay down his part ad nauseum and no one musician hears the complete monstrosity until it is all mixed in panned monophonic mess. Call me OLD SCHOOL! "....Advice is hard to give when dealing with an industry made up of gigantic egos wherein credentials are in short supply. Not only have we as a society lost sight of true musical culture (just examine the garbage that people listen to today) we have lost sight of the goal of music reproduction. Not until our industry begins to recognize that the primary goal is to capture REALITY, and the secondary goal is QUALITY, shall we get back on the proper track. The right questions are not being asked and therefore the answers are not forthcoming." James Bongiorno
System Goals/Comments: To enjoy music I love.
System Strengths: Very nice!
System Weaknesses: Would like to control room reflections better. I would also like to control my wife's vision of room decor which frequently and unfortunately is at great odds with my stereo equipment wishes.
