CD Player/DAC: | NAD |
Turntable/Phono Stage: | Thorens TD166 mk2 Sumiko blue point #2 cartridge |

Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: | Radio Shack standard |
Room Size (LxWxH): | 20 x 14 x 8 |
Room Comments/Treatments: | Not what you'd call a "dedicated" listening room: Berber rug, snotty pine walls. Paintings and furniture absorb the right amount of sound. |
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): | classical, opera, rock, some jazz |
System Goals/Comments: | None except to keep listening and replace components only when they break down. The Thorens (1985) has outlived 2 NAD CD players. The Quad, Nak and Yamaha date from 1978; the a/d/s from 1983. It pays to spend more for quality, whether it's on hi-fi or anything else. |
System Strengths: | great resolution and imaging |
System Weaknesses: | Nothing's perfect. "Better sound" would cost me more than I deem worth it. I haven't heard anything lately (speakers primarily) that's wowed me to the point where I feel compelled to sell my a/d/s speakers, which are 32 years old. |
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: | 26" Samsung TV. No cable. Video doesn't interest me. |
