Amplifier: PS Audio BHK 300 main monoamps, two Emotiva A700 7-channel poweramps.
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Marantz '8805 AV preamp.
Speakers: Quad ESL 2905 front-L/Rs; no centerchannel. Two Rythmik F15HP sealed subwoofers with LP filters set on 25Hz (so they're really SUBwoofers) driven by front-L and front-R signals. Now one and soon to be two Rythmik F18 SUBwoofers driven by '.1' channel (movies only); 40Hz LP filter.
CD Player/DAC: Oppo BDP-203 using AudioQuest premium HDMI to Marantz pre/pro; no separate DAC.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Two ClearDay 6-solid-silver-conductor cables. Two-main-channel ICs are Neotec solid-UPOCC-silver, now with Neotec XLRs in this my FIRST balanced system; AudioQuest Chicago in surround and ceiling channels. Forty-five-cents-per-foot 16/4-stranded 'speaker cable' from Home Depot driving all surround and ceiling speakers.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Three dedicated 20-amp (11g.) AC-power lines to musicroom. Balanced Power Technology 20-amp balanced power conditioner; custom Neotec/Furutech/ Audioquest 11- and 13g. powercables. Inexpensive hollow-tube rack with tubes filled with lead shot. New 2-1/4"-thick bamboo-plywood amppads under main poweramps.
Tweaks: Two huge basstraps to absorb BIG 28-30Hz roomnode; 6"-deep 3x6' panels against front wall behind speakers. Room was built with few parallel walls or 90-degree corners.
Room Size (LxWxH): 19' x 21' x 6.5 - 12'
Room Comments/Treatments: Room is nicely balanced and slightly dark sounding with reflections from hard surfaces well diffused or damped.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Big-orchestra Classical and film; some jazz
System Goals/Comments: Large-scale, very extended, concert-hall-natural sound with plenty of bottom-octave energy and real warmth and bloom.
System Strengths: I achieved my goals.
System Weaknesses: None that I'm going to work on. :-)
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Epson 5040UB projector (pixel-shifted UHD3840, HDR, 3D but never watch the latter).
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Marantz, above.
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Listed above, plus five pairs of smallish ELAC B6s for surround, rear-surround, and three pairs on ceiling.
Sources (DVD/VCR): Oppo '203, above.
Other HT Gear: Panavision-ratio (2.35:1) Severtson screen 96" wide (NOT diagonal) with 42-degree lateral viewing angle.
Comments on HT System: WOW! Second-best home-theater system I've ever seen or heard and 2nd-best-resolution projected image I've ever seen.
