IP Address: Last Update: June 05, 2020 at 06:26:57
Amplifier: Triamped with Benchmark AHB2 on the mids and highs, Parasound A-21 on the midbass; Schiit Vidar on the bass
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: Magnepan Tympani IVA, Koss ESP-9, Etymotic ER4-PT
CD Player/DAC: Exasound e28 Mk II DAC with femto clock, Lynx E22, Mini DSP OpenDRC-DA 8, Dragonfly Red and 1.1
Other Source(s): JRiver and Tidal on HTPC with Intel i7-7700K, 32 GB GSkill Trident DDR4-3200, Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard, Samsung SM971 M.2 256 GB SSD, three Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD's, Seasonic SS-520SL2 fanless power supply, Asus GTX 750 Strix silent graphics card, Fractal Design silent tower case. I'm delighted with this build, powerful enough for anything but inaudible from a foot away!
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Make them up myself; Cardas connectors on the Maggies
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Furman PL-8C power conditioner
Tweaks: GIK QRD diffusers; 703 absorption and bass traps; dedicated iso ground power lines
Room Size (LxWxH): 17'/13' x 14' x 6'-9"
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Classical, rock, jazz, and basically anything that doesn't need Autotune
System Goals/Comments: I have 14 Neo 8 drivers that I'll be using to upgrade the midrange of the Tympanis. Ultimately it will be triamped with DSP for crossovers and drivers and room correction.
System Strengths: Triiamped and in split configuration, the IVA's have an uncanny planar naturalism to them but the slam and bass extension needed for movies and rock
System Weaknesses: Still a diamond in the rough -- I have to modify the midrange, add more room treatment, set up Acourate, and add surround
Video/HT System: Separate
TV/Projector: Acer H6510BD 3D 1080P DLP projector
Processor/Receiver/Amplifiers: Audio system does double duty
Speakers (Center, Surrounds, Sub): Audio system does double duty
Sources (DVD/VCR): HTPC (see above)
Other HT Gear: Monoprice 106" motorized screen
Comments on HT System: Inexpensive DLP projectors aren't the last word in color fidelity, but with a few tweaks the image is spectacular nonetheless. If I could have anything it would be a larger screen -- but I'd need a short throw projector for that. Someday.
