clb3092@icloud.com's Budget Audiophile is Not a Oxymoron System
IP Address: 108.44.183.90 Last Update: August 05, 2018 at 18:20:01
Amplifier: NAD C356BEE with DAC2 module
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): none
Speakers: Elac B6
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: DAC is the DAC2 module factory installed in amp. I use an old Mac Mini with a fiber optic connection to the DAC.
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Nothing special.
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Mostly live music recordings from band like Grateful Dead, Keller Williams, Phish as well as a lot of stuff from archive.org. I have well over 1000 concerts. They range from 16bit 44k audience recordings to 24bit 196k taken directly from all digital sound board at concert.
System Goals/Comments: Jam band and live music lovers are really into good audio equipment. But their goal is very different from regular audiophiles. Their goal is using excellent equipment to compensate/make the most of an inherently flawed medium - live concert recordings.
System Strengths: Outstanding bang for the buck. After being dead for a long time, the term budget audiophile has sprung back to life for real! I would have absolutely died for a system this good at a reasonable price when I was a young man!
System Weaknesses: The high end of high end audio is still the best.
Video/HT System: Integrated
