m.beizer@verizon.net's Media Room System
IP Address: 173.61.25.169 Last Update: April 15, 2021 at 17:59:29
Amplifier: Parasound P6
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): Parasound A23
Speakers: Sony ES SS-M7, occasionally JR-149
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: JVC XL-Z1050TN; DAC in the Parasound P6
Turntable/Phono Stage: SOTA Star/ Sumiko MMT (and FT-3), AT-7V, OM-20, Hana EL
Other Source(s): Raspberry Pi 3 b+ USB streamer running moOde Audio software
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: 10 gauge "Monster style" speaker cable, "nothing special" balanced preamp-amp interconnects, streamer-preamp USB and TV and CD-preamp optical cables.
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Salamander Synergy rack
Tweaks: On the MMT, for higher compliance cartridges (e.g. OM-20) use Technics SL-1200 GAE headshell (7 g) and FT-3 counterweight. (This is more convenient than swapping in the FT-3.)
Room Size (LxWxH): 11 x 19 x 8
Room Comments/Treatments: GIK Acoustics: 3 4" Alpha Panels (diffusion), 3 corner membrane bass traps, 4 244 full range Bass Traps
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Folk, Rock
System Goals/Comments: Work well with both TV and music from various sources: vinyl, Internet radio/streaming (Qobuz) and CD.
System Strengths: Neutral (the SS-M7s are true classics), imaging is good over a fairly wide range of locations.

The Raspberry Pi-based streamer is both inexpensive and excellent (especially with Qobuz and FLAC Internet radio).
System Weaknesses: The room is somewhat difficult - the only option is to put the speakers on the long wall, and without treatment, the room is very bright. However, the GIK acoustic panels to a large extent make the room disappear.
Video/HT System: Integrated
TV/Projector: Samsung 50"
Other Interests/Hobbies/Occupation: Photography, gardening
Retired Electronic/Software Engineer
